The ocean contains abundant resources, and one of the problems in developing these materials is deep-sea solid buoyancy materials. Deep-sea buoyancy materials need to have the characteristics of low density, light high, and low water absorption, so as to withstand the pressure of thousands of meters or even 10,000 meters underwater, to ensure that the equipment can operate normally.
The current deep-sea buoyancy materials are mainly made of hollow glass beads and thermosetting resin system. The main component of hollow glass microspheres is borosilicate, hollow spheres with a particle size of 10 to 250 μm and a wall thickness of 1 to 2 μm. This closed-cell structure can effectively reduce the amount of water absorption. The higher the density of the hollow glass microbeads, the stronger the material's resistance to hydrostatic external pressure.
Blue whale deep-sea buoyancy blocks and deep-sea buoys are made of glass micro-bead materials, which have the characteristics of high strength and low density. Deep-sea operations and buoyancy aids in cable ducts play an important role.
